Chiropractic Treatment for Neck Pain in Falls Church, VA
Neck pain is increasingly common, but that doesn’t mean it’s normal. Neck pain can cause a number of uncomfortable symptoms, including:
- Muscle tightness and spasms
- Migraines and headaches
- Limited range of motion
- Pain that is aggravated by holding the head in the same position for extended periods of time (as with sitting at a desk using a computer)
In order to effectively treat your neck pain, we need to determine what is causing it. This may be:
- Car accidents
- Strains and sprains
- Too much screen time
- Improper sleep position
- Bone misalignments
- Fixations
- Cervical disc problems
During your first appointment for neck pain, we’ll also assess the current condition of your neck. Specifically, we’ll want to see if it has lost part of its curve and if there has been degeneration in the discs.
The importance of the curve in your neck cannot be underestimated. When your body is healthy, your neck’s curve places your head in a very precise position directly above your shoulders. The result is that the weight of your head is distributed evenly, with equal amounts of pressure on each of the discs in your spine.
When your head is moved forward slightly—something common in patients with desk jobs or who otherwise spend a lot of time on screens and devices—there is an increased amount of pressure on the neck and upper back. This leads to chronic neck pain and also back pain and headaches.
We resolve neck pain issues with chiropractic adjustment as well as home care that includes gentle stretches and exercises to improve your posture.
